THE
HORSE OF
'PURA RAZA ESPAÑOLA
DE ESTIRPE CARTUJANA'
It
was because of the passion and work of the
Carthusian Monks during the 15th-18th Century in
Jerez de la Frontera (Cádiz - Spain) that the special
elite breed of horse came to be. This horse, 'Pura Raza Española',
since known as 'Cartujano', had exceptional qualities, including a fine
head, straight ears, lively
eyes, an arched neck, muscular cruper, an impressive figure and docile
character.
-
In 1810, the stud 'Hierro del Bocado' was born,
with the intention of preserving this breed.
